Hi!

My name is Erin Murphy, and I would like to welcome you to my professional webpage.

IMG_9393 2I currently live in Los Angeles, California, where I work by day as a 6th grade teacher in Santa Monica and moonlight as a social entrepreneur! In 2015, I founded Dignity Collective, a social enterprise that seeks to prevent the trafficking and exploitation of women in Nepal. Dignity Collective is an ethical, luxury housewares (and soon to be clothing!) company that not only invests in fair-wage labor and women’s empowerment, but also in environmentally-sound business practices.

From 2014-2015, I served as the Director of Operations for Khusi Hona, a non-profit organization working on poverty alleviation projects in South Asia.

Before coming to Khusi Hona, I worked as the Outreach and Development Officer for Transitions (TOL), a Prague-based media development NGO and as an independent public relations and advocacy consultant in Kathmandu. Prior to Nepal, I lived in Moldova and worked as a Fulbright Scholar teaching English and journalism at Cahul State University.

In 2011, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill…Go Heels! I studied both Journalism and Mass Communication and Global Studies, and had concentrations in public relations and global health respectively.  I also had a regional focus on East Europe through Global Studies and minored in Russian Language and Culture.
